Update Biz Page

This is a question for business owners. If you had a business recently relocated, do you change the address on Yelp page or tell the world that you moved to a new address?

It prompted me to this blog. I recently go contacted by a business owner in Chinese:

Subject: 百利中医皮肤科 (TCM Acupuncture & Herbs Clinic)
Mr lou
您好!谢谢您在yelp帮我们!我们现在搬到新址所以还得麻烦您帮我们把旧的照片删掉!多谢多谢!   杨晓娜
(Hi, Mr Lou! Thank you for helping us on Yelp! We moved to a new address. Please delete the old photos you posted. Thank you. Xiaona Y.)

I got very curious and found out the storefront and store hours photos were removed. I suspected that the biz page owner already removed them. My first expression was, "oh no. They did it all wrong." I was a little pissed off at first. But then, I realized Chinese are getting more adoptive to new methods of advertising. That's what Yelp is about.

I drove by to see the old location. It is occupied by a massage therapist and TCM is still on the wall.

It was just hard to believe as why business owner didn't like to tell people where they were. I'd rather show the world the progress of business - from a small office to a prominent location.

Of course, you can't check in at a closed location.
Here are few examples:
  • Jabastian’s Mexican Cuisine took over Ruchis Taqueria's space on S Gessner. On the app, it shows renovated. On the website, it shows moved. That is what it should be.
  • Pho Vang 2 moved from a tiny place to a bigger and more convenient place. For me, I'll just updated my review explaining how different of old and new locations were. But for other people, there were no transitions.
  • Taquerias Arandas bought Taqueria Cancun Restaurant at 8111 S Gessner Rd in April 2015. Not sure which brave soul merged both businesses on Yelp. The reviews became very inconsistent. Taqueria Arandas is a much better restaurant then Cancun. I know because I've been to both. But fake reviewers started to bashing the biz with bad reviews. This reviews became erroneous and unreliable.

Send to car with Yelp

I have been searching for a perfect combination of "send to car" convenience on a GPS - linking business location search to GPS. I learned about this during car shopping last year. I saw few car manufacturers had Google's Send to Car feature. But the cost of on-board GPS does not justify the feature.

My recent GPS purchase from best buy and a phone upgrade got me interested to revisit this again. So I experimented with several ways to copy an address to GPS.

This is only possible with Android. Here is how:
  1. On Yelp app, click on direction or the map.
  2. Tap on MORE icon (...) and select on Garmin Smartphone Link app to complete the action.
  3. When the location is shown, tap on NEXT icon (>) and select SAVE.
  4. turn on Bluetooth on both devices and begin to synchronize.
  5. On Garmin GPS, tap on Where to and select Saved. Voila! You're ready to take off.
